Jessica Snell

Remarkably Bright Creatures

Jessica Snell is a realtor in Sowell Bay whose work intersects with two consequential transitions: Cameron Cassmore’s search for Simon Brinks and Tova Sullivan’s plans to sell her home. In each, she supplies practical help while acknowledging the personal stakes behind it.

Identity and Introduction

Jessica is introduced in her office as a middle-aged woman with bleached blond hair and a narrow, expressionless face. When Cameron asks whether she can help him find Simon Brinks, she laughs and explains that although she has seen Simon’s advertisements, she cannot say that she knows him. Her first response establishes a limit to what she can offer: she has not met the man Cameron is seeking.

Help for Cameron

Jessica nevertheless finds an address for Simon and gives it to Cameron on a piece of paper. She wishes him luck and hopes his reunion with his father will be joyful, treating his search as more than a request for a name or location. Cameron thanks her and pockets the address. The encounter gives him a concrete lead without confirming what he will find there.

Work with Tova Sullivan

Jessica also serves as the realtor involved in Tova’s house sale. When Tova arrives at her destination downtown, Jessica greets her as Mrs. Sullivan. Later, she calls with news that an offer has come in for ten thousand dollars above the asking price, even though the open house has not yet taken place. She outlines the buyers’ offer and the steps Tova would need to take to accept, while noting that Tova could instead wait or counter to take the property off the market before the open house. Jessica calls it a good offer but leaves the choice to Tova. Her role therefore remains practical and advisory: she brings an unexpected opportunity to Tova without making the decision for her.
